THERMAL & LAKES

Depart at 9.30am to Wai-O-Tapu which is New Zealand’s most colourful and diverse volcanic area. The walks take visitors on a journey through stunning geothermal activity where they can absorb unique features such as naturally coloured hot and cold pools, the world famous Champagne Pool which occupies a 65 metre wide explosion crater, bubbling mud (the largest boiling mud pools in NZ), steaming ground, expansive vistas, huge volcanic craters and sinter terrace formations. The natural bush setting adds another dimension to the experience, as does the Lady Knox Geyser which erupts daily at 10.15am (reaching heights of up to 20 metres).
 
Depart Wai-O-Tapu at 12noon to the Rotorua Lakefront where you will board the Lakeland Queen.
 
The Lakeland Queen is a genuine stern wheel driven paddle steamer designed with the famous Mississippi River Cruisers in mind. Take a one and a half hour lunch break and dine in casual elegance on board Rotorua’s Lakeland Queen.

While gently cruising on Lake Rotorua, you can enjoy a delicious A La Carte or buffet lunch; taking in spectacular views of the city, mystical Mokoia Island and other Rotorua landmarks.

There is plenty of time to enjoy a coffee or tea and some lovely sweet treats after your sumptuous lunch before arriving back an hour later at the Lakefront. This really is an experience not to be missed!   Return to the hotel at 2.00pm.

NATURE & SPA

Departing at 9.15am and returning at 4.30pm, this tour will take you to a number of fascinating places around Rotorua.
 
Enjoy a guided tour around Rainbow Springs which is one of the most long-standing tourist attractions in Rotorua and over two million litres of pure fresh spring water wells up naturally into Rainbow Springs each day. Set amidst a beautiful environment of native bush, the Rainbow Springs Nature Park has a wonderful combination of natural elements and species all in the one setting.
 
Followed by a guided tour of the Kiwi Encounter which is unlike any other attraction you may have visited. What you see at the Kiwi Encounter is the effort to stop the extinction of a species. The Kiwi Encounter is a working hatchery and nursery. Kiwi are hatched and nurtured at Rainbow Springs and when mature are released back into the wild to the areas they came from. During the Kiwi Encounter tour you will learn much about the kiwi, its unique and endearing characteristics, its origin, its habitat and how it lives.
 
Enjoy Lunch in the Rainbow Springs Café (own cost) before departing to Hells Gate & Wai Ora Spa.
 
End the day with a geothermal walk through Hells Gate Thermal Reserve followed by a Mud Bath & Spa OR a half hour Wai Ora Massage.

MITAI

A Sacred Place, A Spiritual Place…..Experience the world of Mitai. This is an up close and personal Maori cultural experience. Meet with the people of the land and enjoy an evening like no other. Your journey begins with a complimentary transfer to the village from your accommodation.
 
Once at the village you will engage in a range of activities. For example, you will experience a formal welcoming, traditional dances, you can wander around the reconstructed village, view the Sacred Freshwater Springs, experience ancient Maori customs and traditions, learn Maori rituals, beliefs and protocols, and enjoy a traditionally cooked Maori feast (a hangi).

 MT TARAWERA HALF DAY TOUR

Mt Tarawera is the largest volcanic eruption in New Zealand's living memory. This mountain is privately owned by the Maori tribe Ngati Rangitihi. This dormant volcano last erupted on June 10, 1886, killing more than 150 people and destroying the eighth wonder of the world, the famous Pink and White (silica) Terraces. Today you can visit the volcano and witness the resulting devastation first hand.

You will be collected at 8.00am to drive 40km through picturesque rural farming areas and past the largest man-made forest in New Zealand (Kaingaroa) to the base of Mt Tarawera volcano. You will then 4WD 10kms up to the edge of the massive craters where you will enjoy a short crater walk or, for the more adventurous, experience the famous scree slide into the crater or hike to the 1111m summit! Your experienced local guide will give a commentary on Maori legend, history and volcanology. You may even catch a glimpse of some of NZ’s rare and unique wildlife in their natural habitat.

The coach will collect you from your hotel at 9.00am to depart to Paradise Valley Springs:

Paradise Valley Springs is an award winning Wildlife Park, set in a natural valley amongst 50 acres of native New Zealand bush. Paradise Valley Springs Wildlife Park is home to a variety of Trout, Giant Eels, Thar (goats), Wallabies, native Kune Kune pigs, and much more. At Paradise Valley Springs you can get up close to feed some of the wildlife in their natural habitat.
 
The wetland area has an amazing selection of birdlife, and at Paradise Valley Springs you will also discover The Pride of Paradise – their very own Lion Pride. Housed in a spacious and natural enclosure, these animals are worth a visit. Everyday at 2.30pm the lions are fed – something not to be missed.
 
Depart Paradise Valley at 11.15am and travel to Skyline Skyrides to enjoy a Gondola Ride up Mt Ngongotaha and two luge rides (Fun-filled gravity carts with 3 tracks to choose from).
 
Have lunch in the Skyline Café (own cost).
 
Depart Skyline Skyrides at 1.45pm to Tourism Rotorua Information where you will board the “Duck”:
 
What better way to visit some of Rotorua’s most spectacular attractions than in a World War II amphibious vehicle. The ‘duck’ will take you on a 90 minute journey around Rotorua, allowing you to sit back and enjoy the sights. You can enjoy Rotorua by land and lake from the comfort of this restored vehicle. On this tour you will venture onto three lakes: Rotorua, Tikitapu (Blue Lake) and Okareka, as well as travel past important landmarks such as the Rotorua Museum and the Government Gardens. This journey combines a mixture of history, culture, geothermal, scenery and fun. The duck is suitable for all ages.

ADVENTURE OPTION – Adults Only

Depart your accommodation by coach at 9.00am, depart to Off Road NZ which is a half hour drive from Rotorua, here you will experience: 
  • Sprint Car Racing - where you get your backside trackside and try to beat the track record. You will experience the thrill of racing high performance Formula 1500 Sprint cars on Off Road NZ’s circuit track that has been built to test the best. The Sprint cars are not toys but full size race cars fitted with roll cages, seat belt harnesses and power to slide. They are real quick and safe. You will get to race the car around the track 12 times and a driver’s license is required. Passengers are also allowed in the Sprint cars (height restriction – over 1.5m tall).
  • Monster 4X4 thrill ride – hang on! This is a real gravity defying thrill. You are driven over impossible terrain in complete safety. You will climb and descend near vertical slopes and tilt over to unbelievable angles.
  • Archery – try your hand at Archery ( 5 arrows )
Depart Off Road NZ at 11.15am to the Agrodome Adventure Park where you will enjoy:
  • Zorb - Rotorua is the original home of Zorb. There are two options available – the wet or dry zorb. In the wet Zorb, water is added inside the Zorb so you can run, tumble, flip or slide inside as the Zorb hurtles downhill. This is great on your own (where you can attempt to stay on your feet for a free T shirt!), or with two or three people inside. Dry clothes and towels plus warm or cool water are available. In the dry harness Zorb you are safely harnessed inside the Zorb before being sent head over heels downhill.
  • Shweeb - The world's first human-powered monorail racetrack. Riders sit back in the recumbent position. Single riders can reach speeds of 60kph, and multi-rider teams can exceed 70kph. Riders can race one-on-one, or in teams of up to five. On the curves, the vehicles swing centrifugally to over sixty degrees away from vertical, making for a very thrilling and dynamic ride experience.
  • Lunch in the Agrodome Café (own cost) before departing at 1.00pm to the Rotorua Lakefront to board the Kawarau Jet.
  • Enjoy a fantastic half hour trip filled with adrenalin pumping action! Take this classic blood pumping thrill ride in our sleek yellow boat and take in four historical landmarks on the way. You’ll pass by Mokoia Island, the Sacred Island and over the world renowned Sulphur Lake.
Return to your accommodation at 2.15pm

Payment must be made prior to arrival (payment details are outlined on the form).

Refunds are only available if the tour is cancelled due to bad weather or not reaching minimum numbers required for the trip to go ahead.
