KCL Property becomes a sponsor of NZPIF NZPIF is very pleased to welcome KCL Property as a sponsor. KCL specialises in direct property investment, including industrial, commercial, large format retail and general retail. Since 1993, KCL has structured property ownership packages for individual investors or groups of investors and is one of the largest NZ operators in this field. KCL currently manages in excess of $450 million worth of property throughout New Zealand, Brisbane, Australia, for syndicates, corporate and individual investors and also develops commercial property for a range of clients. Members who are interested in diversifying their portfolios into commercial investment should contact Phil Hinton at phil@kclproperty.com. You can read more details on www.kclproperty.com. Phil would also be happy to attend PIA meetings and talk about the benefits KCL can offer to property investors. The latest newsletter from KCL can be read here. More information on their website TINZ offers PIA members an excellent deal. In this economic environment, PIA members need to be doing credit checks of all prospective tenants. Thanks to an excellent offer NZPIF has been able to negotiate with Tenancy Information New Zealand (TINZ), there is now a choice of which provider to use for these checks. PIA members are being offered a free subscription and $16 plus GST per enquiry. This takes the price back to the price Veda Advantage was charging prior to the last increase to $26.50. As with all the partnerships NZPIF negotiates on behalf of PIA members, it is important that it is a reciprocal arrangement. TINZ expects to see a large volume of enquiries from PIA members. It is a simple case of use it or lose it. For full details go to this news item. 2010 Conference The Conference Committee of the Marlborough PIA has been working hard to finalise details for the 2010 NZPIF Conference early. In the latest 2010 Conference newsletter, they have announced that Steve McKnight, the Australian property investor guru and author of several best selling books, is the keynote speaker. He has recently updated his first best seller, From 0-130 properties in 3.5 years, so that it is relevant for today’s market conditions. This conference will be held in Blenheim from 15-17 October 2010 and the theme of the conference is Improving with age. This theme will be developed by an excellent lineup of speakers, such as Steve McKnight, on property investment subjects and enhanced by the business experiences of five of New Zealand’s internationally renowned winemakers. Marlborough wine icons Allan Scott, Josh Scott, Jane Hunter, Brian Bicknell and Brent Marris will surprise and delight delegates with their own stories. As the Conference progresses, the similarities between the production of successful wine and beer brands and the development of successful property investment portfolios will be highlighted. Right now you can select the winery owner you would like to meet by pre-registering at the special member price of $459 for the full conference package - non member price is $559. These prices will change to Early Bird prices on March 1st when the full Conference programme is launched. As you register, you can nominate the winery you would like to visit on the Saturday afternoon. Other benefits of early registration are making the most of accommodation and travel offers. Go to www.propertyconference.org.nz to register now. If you would like to receive the 2010 Conference newsletter, send your email to jan@janhains.co.nz. Detailed analysis of the Select Committee report to Parliament on the RTA Amendment Bill I listed some of the main recommendations made by the Select Committee in its report to Parliament on September 30th in my report last month. Cliff Seque, President of Otago PIA and NZPIF Executive Committee member, has now provided a detailed analysis of all the changes recommended by the Select Committee. If you haven't already seen Cliff's paper, you can read it here. Now the legislation awaits a second reading in Parliament but it is unlikely it will undergo any significant changes before it before it becomes law. Don’t forget that the monthly report of Thomas Chin, the NZPIF political lobbyist is always posted on the NZPIF website. If you missed reading the October report of Thomas, you can find it here.
