Working smoke alarms contribute to safety of people and property

Although residential rental property make up 33% of the New Zealand housing stock, they account for 55% of all house fires and 89% of fatal fires.  The Fire Service are proposing changes to improve the safety of people and property, and are working with the NZPIF.

Prices of houses continue to rise   NZPIF pleased to announce new partner - Unovent    Reserve Bank proposals
   
In an interview with RadioNZ on March 2, Olly Newland said it would take a huge event to prick the housing bubble but in practice he does not think prices can go much higher   The revolutionary Unovent home ventilation system comprises of individual, ductless room outlets. Each outlet has its own fan and washable filter, all connected in series to a simple 12 volt supply using light-weight cabling.   On March 5 the Reserve Bank announced that new rules for loans for property investors were on the way. This news came a week before the Reserve Bank Governor Graeme Wheeler announced, on March 12, that the Official Cash Rate would remain at the same level of 3.5%.

Research into landlord motivations

   

On March 29, property investors will gather at the Wellington Airport Conference Centre for the first of two national meetings during 2015. These national meetings are very important opportunities for networking and for the sharing of information. 

 

On March 5, reporters from six different media channels contacted Andrew King as Executive Officer of the NZPIF.  They were keen to have the NZPIF's reaction to the Reserve Bank's announcement that new rules for property investors were on the way.

 

Concern about the high incidence of rheumatic fever has led the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment to this week ask for proposals to conduct research on the drivers of landlord motivation to upgrade and maintain their rental properties, where children in those properties may be at risk of rheumatic fever.
