New member benefit - Healthy Homes compliance statement builder

Why we need this compliance statement builder?

From last Tuesday, 1 December 2020, a Healthy Homes compliance statement must be attached to most new and renewing tenancy agreements. This is despite the first Healthy Homes deadline being 1 July 2021.

The statement must state your rental property's requirements under the Act plus how it meets or doesn't meet those requirements. The standards cover aspects of heating, insulation, ventilation, draught stopping, moisture and drainage.

To help members comply with the new law, the NZPIF has developed a tool to take you through what is required and develop a customisable form you can download and attach to your tenancy agreement.

You can produce as many Healthy Homes compliance statements as you need and they will be saved under your details section of the members only part of the NZPIF website. We will also be producing an online Tenancy Agreement that will incorporate these new requirements. You will be advised when this will be available.

How to produce a compliance statement using the builder.

To produce your Healthy Homes compliance statement, go to www.nzpif.org.nz and click on the member login (top right side of the screen) to access the members only section. If you have not accessed this part of the website before you will be asked to set up a password. If you have any problems accessing this part of the website, contact Jan on jan.hains@nzpif.org.nz.

Once logged in, click onto "My Details" to access your account. (While you are there, you can confirm your contact details are correct and check you are receiving the newsletters you want.) Select "Forms" to access the Healthy Homes compliance statement builder tool.

The tool will take you through what you need to do to comply with the new law and help you produce your Healthy Homes compliance statement. You can come back at any time to edit, download, clone or delete the compliance statement.
