Changes to Healthy Homes standards

become law on May 12 2022

Residential Tenancies (Healthy Homes Standards) Amendment Regulations 2022 have been gazetted. This means the legislation to change the healthy homes standards has been finalised, and a date is confirmed for when the changes come into force (12 May 2022). The amendments make changes to the heating, ventilation, and moisture ingress and drainage healthy homes standards.

Tenancy Services is updating their resources and tools to help tenants and landlords understand how the changes may affect them. This includes updates to the heating assessment tool to reflect the new formula available for some properties. The updated tool and supporting resources will be available when the changes become law on 12 May 2022.

For more information on the changes visit The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development's website
