Conference news, NZPIF has three new Executive members and Submissions

Congratulations to OPIA

for a very successful 2018 Conference.

The Conference began with a fun filled exercise building a house out of suppled cardboard and other materials which was fully compliant.  The creativity and innovation was a delight, as noted by the Minister of Housing Phil Twyford who was in time to judge the creations.  His following presentation was interesting and informative.  The following speakers during the Conference were equally interesting and their presentations can be found here.  The Gala Dinner in the splendid and grand Town Hall began with the piping in of the haggis reminding us that we were in a very Scottish city.  It was a marvellous evening enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Tony Mounce Mortgages and Insurance, the Principal Sponsor, and to all the other sponsors of this annual event.

Leilani Driessen

2018 Landlord of the Year.

Leilani is a member of HBPIA.  The judges said she demonstrated how she takes a professional approach to her rental business – seeing herself as a ‘service provider' to her tenants and placing importance on being responsive, respectful and courteous to her customers. Her record keeping was of a high standard with a thorough approach taken to all documentation including clear demonstration of compliance with the RTA. Many thanks to MBIE, sponsor of this Award.

Nicholas Irons

2018 NZPIF/Resene Renovation of the Year - winner

Nick is a member of Southland PIA.  His entry was selected by the judges as the winner. They said the changes took into account the comfort of the tenant, warmth etc wise, and were not just focused on the looks. It was thought the new changes would be highly appealing to many. Many thanks to Resene, the sponsor of this Award.

Sam Wang, Andy Kim and Pat Nga

2018 NZPIF/Resene Renovation of the Year - runners up.

Sam, Andy and Pat, from Manawatu PIA, have collaborated on a number of renovations. One called Wilton was selected because it was a good transformation improving the look and feel of the home inside and out.

Harry Lawson Cup

Marlborough PIA winner for 2018

NZPIF was officially incorporated in 1983. Harry Lawson was President of NZPIF between 1991 and 1996 being elected at the AGM in Dunedin in 1991. A sponsor donated the cup during this time and as Harry was the President, the cup was named the Harry Lawson Cup. The first record of a winner on the cup itself is Otago in 1998. Each year, PIAs are invited to make a presentation following the AGM and representatives of all Associations are asked to judge these presentations in terms of creativity and content.  The other criteria is membership growth during the previous year.

Conference win

This coffee machine was offered as a draw on the Noel Leeming stand and the winner was Stephen East from Canterbury.
