Budget 2023 continues the Government’s commitment to tackle the housing shortage

• An extra 3,000 public homes by June 2025, on top of 14,050 funded to June 2024
• Support for Maori housing – 322 more homes for Maori and 400 relocatable cabins to assist people and whnau displaced by extreme weather events across the North Island through ‘by-Maori, for Maori’ programmes
• Bolstering two Homelessness Action Plan initiatives including delivery of an extra 80 places for Rangatahi
